The IREX Europe approach emphasizes partnerships with local development organisations to expand capacity, build sustainable institutions and effect change.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

IREX Europe seeks a key consultant for a project that aims to bring Indonesian youth (ages 14-16) from conflict and post-conflict areas into productive dialogue through innovative use of theater. Central to the project goal is to build local capacity in interactive theatre methodology through training of trainers such that the skills learned through this project can be re-used to help prevent conflict in Indonesia.

The consultant will train teachers and local theatre graduates in interactive theatre techniques prior to two camp-type programs, and then lead facilitation of these camp workshops, with the support and assistance of IREX Europe and its local partner organisaton. Training of trainers for local teachers and theatre professionals will be provided by the consultant.

Three trips to Indonesia are foreseen, each of between 12 and 21 days. The consultancy also will include preparation of the program, and reporting on activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated expertise in interactive theater methodologies appropriate for youth in the context of conflict mitigation
• Experience in programme planning, management and implementation
• University degree and experience in relevant fields
• Excellent communication, leadership, organisational and reporting skills
• Professional experience in Indonesia or the region strongly preferred
• Excellent spoken and written English required; Fluency in Indonesian will be considered an asset
